Gold Coin Question

If you had 4 one ounce gold coins and needed to sell one, which one of the following would you part with and for what reason?

American Gold Eagle
American Buffalo
Canadian Maple
South African Krugerand

From the looks of each, the Krugerand seems much more bronze looking to me. I hear that its pure gold content is lower than the other 3. So is the Krugerand the obvious choice to sell?

doesn't matter really

krugs generally fetch a slighly lower price than the other 3 due to the purity issue

krugs have a ounce total of gold in um...just have some copper mixed in...giving it that bronze look

the krugs actually are more durable and age better than the other gold coins....due to the copper alloy....better at resisting scraches and dents and such

Also, where would you take these coins to sell? It seems that some places may pay more than others. Also, do they give you what the daily price is for Gold?

If you're not concerned with aesthetics, Krugs are as good as anything else... Have to treat Maples and Buffs with kid gloves, 24K scratches very easily...

Reputable online dealers such as APMEX will offer you about 2% over spot(the daily price) for government-issued gold bullion... 5%+ on silver... Depending on where you live, some local dealers are likely to pay a shade over spot as well...

Blotto, thanks for the answer. I have a few coins that I got as a gift (as a kid, many, many years ago). I don't want to mail them to anyone. I'd rather do a walk in and do the transaction. I figure now is as good a time as any to sell....

Unless you really need the money now, CB, I'd hang on to them... Might(and I emphasize MIGHT) take a dump in the mid-term, but gold's only in the third or fifth inning of a nice bull run~~:<<... IMO...
